K3Y Ltd is proud to share that the paper entitled \u201c5GCIDS: An Intrusion Detection System for 5G Core with AI and Explainability Mechanisms\u201d<\/em> was presented in IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM)<\/em><\/a>, that took place from 4th to 8th of December 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The authors (Panagiotis Radoglou Grammatikis<\/a>, George Nakas<\/a>, George Amponis<\/a>, Sofia Giannakidou<\/a>, Thomas Lagkas<\/a>, Vasileios Argyriou<\/a>,\u00a0Sotirios Goudos<\/a> and Panagiotis Sarigiannidis<\/a>) introduce the development of PFCPFlowMeter - a new flow statistics generator which is capable of generating bidirectional flow statistics related to the application-layer attributes of the Packet Forwarding and Control Protocol (PFCP) used for control-plane communication at the N4 interface of the 5G core. The work also concerns the detection of PFCP-related attacks through ML methods such as eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and decision tree. Lastly, our work considers the development of a new AI-powered IDS with an explainability mechanism leveraging the SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) method.<\/p>\n
