K3Y Ltd at the UP2030 Final Event – Cities in Action: Shaping Just, Resilient & Climate Neutral Urban Planning

December 5, 2025

We are pleased to announce that K3Y Ltd successfully participated in the final event of the UP2030 project, “Cities in Action: Shaping Just, Resilient & Climate Neutral Urban Planning, held on November 3, 2025, at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau in Barcelona. Our colleagues Georgios Kalitsios and Akis Nousias represented the company at this landmark gathering hosted in a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage setting.

The event brought together project partners, urban planners, researchers, and representatives from the 11 UP2030 cities to reflect on three years of collaborative work toward more just, resilient, and climate-neutral urban environments. Through keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, and tool demonstrations, participants explored how coordinated governance, meaningful community engagement and data-driven planning can help cities transform climate strategies into practical, scalable solutions.

Discussions touched on core challenges in climate implementation, including the need to bridge the gap between planning and delivery, to prioritise vulnerable communities and to foster long-term collaboration across sectors and institutions. Cities showcased participatory approaches, resilience planning practices, co-designed public-space prototypes and innovative ideas such as solar mapping, micromobility initiatives and digital twinning for decarbonisation.

For K3Y Ltd, the event offered valuable insights into emerging urban innovation pathways and reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration in supporting cities’ transition toward climate neutrality while maintaining strong legal, ethical and governance standards. As the UP2030 project concludes, the discussions and tools presented in Barcelona open new opportunities for continued cooperation and shared progress across Europe’s urban ecosystem.
