TWIN4CITIES Kick-off Meeting

K3Y Ltd proudly participated in the kick-off meeting of the TWIN4CITIES project, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on June 3-4, 2026. The event was hosted by the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH).

The two-day meeting officially launched the project and brought together the consortium partners to establish a shared understanding of the project's objectives, technical approach, and implementation roadmap. Throughout the meeting, partners presented their organisations and planned contributions, while discussions covered the project's technical architecture, AI-based solutions, Local Digital Twins, pilot preparation activities, digitalisation strategy, project management, and the communication and exploitation activities that will support the project's implementation. The meeting concluded with the planning of the next steps, providing a strong foundation for collaboration over the next 42 months.

TWIN4CITIES will support European cities in becoming more climate-neutral, resilient and sustainable through AI-powered Local Digital Twins and intelligent urban solutions. The project will develop a suite of AI-based digital tools to enable real-time monitoring, scenario generation, simulation, resource optimisation and better-informed decision making. Pilot activities in Copenhagen, Zaragoza and Kozani will demonstrate how these technologies can support smarter and more sustainable urban transformation, while actively engaging citizens and stakeholders throughout the process.

Represented by our colleagues Nikolaos Ntampakis and Georgios Tziolas, K3Y Ltd presented its role and planned technical contributions to the TWIN4CITIES project. During the meeting, the team introduced its work on the Explainable AI and Cybersecurity Toolbox, which will support secure data exchange and enhance trust in AI-driven urban services. K3Y also presented its leadership responsibilities in data security, privacy, and data and ethics management, as well as its contribution to the project's intellectual property strategy and publication policy. In addition, the team outlined its participation in the development of the AI Explainer, the integration activities, and the deployment of K3Y technologies across the three pilot cities.
