K3Y Ltd Organised a Women4AGreenEU National Stakeholder Workshop in Bulgaria

We are happy to share that K3Y Ltd organised an online National Stakeholder Workshop in Bulgaria as part of the Women4AGreenEU project. Held across two sessions on 1 and 30 April 2026, the workshop brought together stakeholders from education, entrepreneurship, green technology and academia to discuss the challenges and opportunities for women in green technology and STEM.

 

Women4AGreenEU aims to strengthen the participation and success of women in the green technology sector through advocacy, policy development, awareness raising and capacity building. Through stakeholder engagement, training and mentoring activities, the project works to address existing barriers and support more inclusive opportunities for women in green technology.

 

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the Women4AGreenEU project and its objectives, as well as European policies related to gender equality and the green transition. Both online sessions included three breakout discussions, giving participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss the barriers women face, existing opportunities and good practices, and possible solutions and policy recommendations.

 

 

From challenges to possible solutions

 

The discussions highlighted several challenges affecting women's participation in green technology and STEM. These included gender stereotypes, limited access to mentoring and female role models, barriers related to recruitment and career progression, and difficulties in balancing professional and family responsibilities.

 

Participants also discussed practical ways to improve the situation. Among the recommendations were stronger mentoring opportunities, green skills training, support for female entrepreneurship, more educational and scholarship opportunities, greater visibility of female role models, stronger links between education and industry, and measures supporting work-life balance.

 

 

The input collected through the workshop will also support the project's policy work. The discussions helped identify national-level gaps and possible policy measures that can contribute to the development of the Women4AGreenEU EU-level Policy Blueprint.

 

Participant feedback was very positive. Overall, 96.3% of respondents rated the workshop as excellent, while 3.7% rated it as very good. Participants also gave particularly positive feedback on the clarity of the workshop objectives, the quality of facilitation and the usefulness of the policy discussions.

 

 

Through activities such as this workshop, Women4AGreenEU brings different stakeholders into the discussion and supports the development of practical approaches for increasing women's participation in green technology.
