ACROSS in Network of the Future 2024

On October 2-4, 2024, ACROSS (Automated zero-touch cross layer provisioning framework for 5G and beyond vertical services), our leading research and innovation project, participated in NoF 2024.

About Network of the Future (NoF) Conference

Since its creation in 2010, NoF has been a premier annual conference that covers advances in the area of Future Internet design, with emphasis on enabling technologies, architectures and services. The conference aims at providing a forum for researchers, students and professionals to exchange ideas, share their experiences, and discuss their research results around a single-track of technical sessions. This year, the event took place in Castelldefels, Spain, on October 2-4, 2024. The 15th International Conference on Network of the Future (NoF 2024) was organised by the De Nouvelles Architectures pour les Communications (DNAC).

Panel – Building Trust in 6G: Security and Privacy Insights from Leading European Projects

During the panel discussion Building Trust in 6G: Security and Privacy Insights from Leading European Projects,” held in Castelldefels on October 4, 2024, prominent experts from academia and industry provided a comprehensive exploration of the security and privacy challenges in future 6G networks. Key themes included end-to-end security, security and privacy in network management, the role of post-quantum security, integrated sensing and communication, and the adoption of zero-trust models. The panel discussed AI integration in enhancing 6G security, discussing how these technologies could be fortified to counter emerging threats. Each expert shared insights from leading European projects funded by the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS-JU). The projects involved were: Hexa-X-II, ACROSS, HORSE, RIGOUROUS and QSNP.

Representing ACROSS, Dr. Ioannis Markopoulos, EU & International Business Development Director in Nova, presented the ACROSS project’s proposed architecture for security in 6G, focusing on innovative mechanisms to enhance trust and fortify orchestration platforms. The ACROSS framework is designed to protect device integrity, secure data acquisition, and safeguard processes against attacks such as DDoS and adversarial threats.

About ACROSS

ACROSS is a HORIZON-JU-SNS-2022 funded research project that designs and implements an end-to-end service deployment and management platform for next generation networks and services, aiming at unprecedented levels of automation, performance, scalability, and energy efficiency. The platform is further enhanced with a) deep end-to-end telemetry to unlock visibility of the intertwined network and compute system states, b) AI-driven intelligence that leverages both the vast number of events originating from the dense IoT ecosystem and detailed monitoring data originating from the ACROSS telemetry sub-system, to generate new insights, c) full-stack cross-domain zero-touch provisioning via programmable “hooks” that exploit events originating from raw telemetry and AI processed events, and d) secure and trusted orchestration mechanisms for trusted computing technologies over large and heterogeneous cloud-edge deployments, as well as orchestration and monitoring of the security VNF.
