ACROSS Selected as Stream A Project in SNS Journal 2025

The SNS Journal 2025, prepared by the SNS OPS, has been officially released. This third annual issue provides an insightful overview of the collective progress of the Smart Networks and Services (SNS) projects, highlighting significant milestones and showcasing the impact of their work towards next-generation networks. Discover the latest ACROSS advancements, delve into our refined system architecture, explore our testbeds and demos, and find out about the project’s significant results on pages 24-25.

About SNS JU

The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) continues to be at the forefront of European innovation, overseeing a portfolio of 79 research, innovation, and trial projects, which is actively building a first-class European supply chain for advanced 5G systems and solidifying Europe’s 6G technology capacities. The R&I projects are consistently developing smart communication components, systems, and networks for 6G, pursuing both an evolutionary path through further enhancements of 5G advanced technology and a more revolutionary path by investigating the benefits of promising technological enablers. Technology validation initiatives are actively developing SNS experimental infrastructures and carrying out large-scale SNS trials and pilots across several business and industrial vertical sectors.

ACROSS in SNS Journal

ACROSS proudly stands as one of the seven Stream A projects, delivering groundbreaking contributions and paving the way for the development of 6G networks. Since its inception, ACROSS has been dedicated to advancing key areas, including:

- AI-Driven Predictive Lifecycle Actions: Leveraging advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, the platform predicts and preemptively resolves network issues, optimises resource utilisation, and enhances service reliability and quality.

- Zero-Touch End-to-End Orchestration: Establishing seamless orchestration workflows across access, core, edge, and cloud domains.

- Deep Telemetry and Intelligent Insights: A novel telemetry engine enables real-time monitoring and analysis.

- Vertical-Specific Applications: ACROSS tailors orchestration and management solutions to meet the unique requirements of industries facilitating the deployment of customised, scalable, and secure services.

- Zero-Trust Security Integration: The platform incorporates robust security measures, ensuring data integrity and resilience against cyber threats.

Our ongoing research and development efforts are yielding significant results, demonstrating tangible progress towards the foundational technologies of 6G.

About ACROSS

ACROSS is a HORIZON-JU-SNS-2022 funded research project that designs and implements an end-to-end service deployment and management platform for next generation networks and services, aiming at unprecedented levels of automation, performance, scalability, and energy efficiency. The platform is further enhanced with a) deep end-to-end telemetry to unlock visibility of the intertwined network and compute system states, b) AI-driven intelligence that leverages both the vast number of events originating from the dense IoT ecosystem and detailed monitoring data originating from the ACROSS telemetry sub-system, to generate new insights, c) full-stack cross-domain zero-touch provisioning via programmable “hooks” that exploit events originating from raw telemetry and AI processed events, and d) secure and trusted orchestration mechanisms for trusted computing technologies over large and heterogeneous cloud-edge deployments, as well as orchestration and monitoring of the security VNF.
