GeniVerse Kick-off Meeting
We are proud to announce K3Y Ltd’s participation in the successful kick-off meeting of the Horizon Europe GeniVerse project, held in Milan, Italy, on 14-15 September 2026. Hosted by project coordinator GFT, the two-day meeting brought together consortium partners onsite and online to discuss the project’s objectives, technical approach and first activities.
Partners presented their organisations and planned contributions, and reviewed the work packages, platform architecture and implementation schedule. Discussions also covered ethics and data governance, communication and exploitation activities, and preparations for the project’s four pilots in education, industry, the silver economy and cross-sector co-creation. The meeting concluded with partners discussing the next steps for technical development and pilot preparation.

GeniVerse will combine generative AI, extended reality (XR) and resource-efficient AI running on edge devices to develop accessible and secure virtual worlds. Through smart assistants and virtual agents, the project aims to support learning, communication and collaboration, with particular attention to older adults and people facing accessibility or language barriers.
Represented by our colleagues Vasileios Mpletsos and Christos Vasilakis, K3Y Ltd presented its profile and technical role in the project. The team outlined its work under Task 3.4 on frugal, edge-based generative AI, supported by the K3FBoX framework, to enable AI deployment on devices with limited computing resources.

K3Y also presented Task 4.4 on Explainable AI and Collaborative Intelligence Services, which it leads. This work will integrate explainability into the design of GeniVerse’s AI-driven virtual agents, helping users understand their behaviour and supporting transparency and trust. In addition, K3Y outlined its role as leader of Task 5.3 on User Testing and Human-Centric Evaluation, which will assess usability, accessibility, immersion and inclusivity across the project’s pilots.
We’re looking forward to contributing to GeniVerse and supporting the development of accessible and trustworthy virtual worlds.

Stay tuned for news and updates as the GeniVerse project progresses.
