K3Y Ltd presented a paper at IEEE GLOBECOM 2023
K3Y Ltd is proud to share that the paper entitled “5GCIDS: An Intrusion Detection System for 5G Core with AI and Explainability Mechanisms” was presented in IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), that took place from 4th to 8th of December 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The authors (Panagiotis Radoglou Grammatikis, George Nakas, George Amponis, Sofia Giannakidou, Thomas Lagkas, Vasileios Argyriou, Sotirios Goudos and Panagiotis Sarigiannidis) introduce the development of PFCPFlowMeter - a new flow statistics generator which is capable of generating bidirectional flow statistics related to the application-layer attributes of the Packet Forwarding and Control Protocol (PFCP) used for control-plane communication at the N4 interface of the 5G core. The work also concerns the detection of PFCP-related attacks through ML methods such as eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and decision tree. Lastly, our work considers the development of a new AI-powered IDS with an explainability mechanism leveraging the SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) method.
This work was implemented in the context of ACROSS project.
The paper is available in IEEE Xplore.
