TORNADO Kick-off Meeting
We are proud to announce K3Y Ltd's participation in the successful TORNADO project kick-off meeting, held in Athens on January 29-30, 2025. The two-day event was organized by project coordinator ITML.
The meeting marked a significant milestone and an exciting start to our journey toward next-generation adaptive robotics.
TORNADO aims to develop an innovative, multifunctional and adaptive cloud robotics platform, supporting advanced navigation of an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) within complex, time-varying, real-world, human-populated indoor environments. The TORNADO AMR will revolutionize robotic interaction by enabling the precise manipulation of soft and deformable objects (SSDs) and seamless human-robot communication through hand gestures and verbal conversation. Leveraging the zero-shot generalization capabilities of deep neural Foundation Models (FMs), TORNADO will handle complex, non-repetitive tasks with previously unseen SSDs, dynamically adapting to shape and size variations. Human trust measurement and behavioral modeling will ensure smooth societal integration. The system will be validated across three industrial use cases: Gears Factory (small gear and flexible material handling), Hospital Environment (palliative patient care assistance), and Plant Distribution Centre (product quality control and waste collection).
During the meeting, our Head of R&D, Panagiotis Radoglou Grammatikis, introduced WP7 which focuses on Dissemination and Community Liaising, outlining the plans and next steps for its implementation. Beyond leading WP7, K3Y will play a pivotal role in the TORNADO exploitation plan and related strategies (T7.3), as well as in the integration of cloud and beyond-5G infrastructure (T6.3). Additionally, K3Y will contribute to the development of beyond-5G communications and the robot-to-cloud continuum (T3.5), as well as the XAI-equipped AR-based human-robot interface (T5.4), with a particular focus on adversarial XAI resilience testing and the adaptation of existing XAI frameworks.
We're excited to begin this journey!
Keep an eye out for more thrilling updates from the project!
