We are looking for a part-time Office Director to join and work with K3Y Ltd, a fast-growing SME with presence in Bulgaria and Greece. K3Y Ltd is seeking a highly motivated part-time Office Director to co-lead its Greek R&D branch operations. The successful candidate will co-supervise the company’s R&D unit in the Business Development & Innovation Department in Thessaloniki, Greece, providing strategic leadership for research, development and innovation programs, while ensuring the successful delivery of EU-funded Research & Innovation projects. The successful candidate will perform financial and implementation supervision & delivery, including budget and expenses monitoring (plus timesheets and personnel working hours supervision), while managing the R&D team in the Greek R&D branch towards successful project implementation according to the EU funding rules. To this end, the successful candidate will lead and participate in the project meetings (plenary meetings, conferences, workshops, pilot meetings, demonstration meetings, EU meetings etc), while designing and applying the company R&D strategy in internal and external decision process meetings by leading and planning important tasks like budget management, flawless project development and implementation and R&D outputs market exploitation.
Responsibilities
- Co-lead and co-supervise the Greek R&D branch operations in Business Development & Innovation Department in Thessaloniki, Greece.
- Define, develop, and implement comprehensive R&D strategies aligned with corporate objectives and emerging market opportunities.
- Monitor project expenditures, timesheets, personnel working hours and cost types in full compliance with EU funding regulations, while preparing and successfully submit the periodic report/financial reports/cost claims through the EU-funded portals.
- Track and monitor the project implementation tasks and progress towards succesfull objectives and outputs delivery.
- Apply K3Y's R&D direction settings, while ensuring strategic alignment and resource optimization.
- Manage and co-supervise team activities, representing the company at project meetings (plenary meetings, conferences, workshops, pilot meetings, demonstration meetings, EU meetings etc).
- Promote a strong culture of innovation giving emphasis in the transition of innovative R&D outputs and solutions to the real market.
- Support company's intellectual property and patent filing process.
- Identify project risks and deviations, implementing timely mitigation measures.
- Ensure full compliance with EU regulations and uphold high quality standards across all research and innovation activities.
- Mentor and develop research staff, supporting talent growth, succession planning, and effective knowledge management.
- Establish, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industry stakeholders, and funding bodies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in EU-funded R&D projects.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and submitting periodic reports.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and presentation skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in international, multicultural environments.
- Team collaboration and excellent organisation skills.
- Ability to travel frequently abroad.
- Ability to understand, design solutions, contribute to and discuss on ICT and engineering problems.
- Ability to discuss, negotiate and work in international partners.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in managing EU-funded R&D/R&I projects such as H2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Interreg, EDF, Digital Europe or similar.
- Proven experience in working as office director or technical manager/coordinator or/and project manager/coordinator in EU-funded R&D/R&I projects.
- Experience in R&D-intensive environments (e.g., deep tech, software, manufacturing).
- Experience in SME innovation strategy or technology commercialization.
