We are looking for a full-time Research and Development (R&D) Project Manager to join and work with K3Y Ltd, a fast-growing SME with presence in Bulgaria and Greece. As a Research and Development Project Manager in our R&D Department in Sofia, Bulgaria or in our Business Development & Innovation Department in Thessaloniki, Greece, you will coordinate and monitor the implementation of the EU-funded projects K3Y participates. You will ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical and non-technical tasks, deliverables and milestones, while supervising and facilitating collaboration with technical and R&D K3Y personnel. Based on the Grant Agreements K3Y signed, you will lead the projects’ work packages and tasks by designing, coordinating and contributing to the technical and non-technical content. You will undertake or lead project work packages and tasks, while performing the research and development activities of the project by contributing to and coordinating with ideas, content, design plan, requirements, specifications and technical plans. Also, you will prepare and submit financial reports and cost claims via the related EU portals in compliance with EU regulations and standards. Finally, you will represent the company in consortium meetings, workshops, and EU project reviews, while participating in internal and plenary meetings, demonstration meetings, workshops and conferences, where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of EU-funded projects, while supervising, managing and monitoring the entire project lifecycle ensuring timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables, milestones and objectives;
- Track project expenses, timesheets, and cost categories in compliance with EU funding rules;
- Prepare and submit financial reports and cost claims via the related EU portals;
- Represent the company in EU-funded projects, consortium meetings, plenary meetings, work packages meetings, task meetings, technical meetings, dissemination and exploitation events and meetings, demonstration events, trainings, EU meetings, workshops and conferences;
- Supervise and manage the R&D team towards preparing, contributing, editing and timely submitting of technical and non-technical reports and deliverables, ensuring that they adhere to quality standards;
- Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines and schedules;
- Assisting in definition of project specifications, while ensuring technical feasibility and resource allocation;
- Establishing effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution;
- Coordinating the development of manuals, training materials and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation;
- Implementing document control policies and documentation templates;
- Contribute to the editing of scientific papers, white papers and publications related to the project achievements and goals;
- Ensure all project work complies with H2020 and Horizon Europe guidelines (open access, visibility, ethics, etc.);
- Monitor risks and deviations, proposing corrective measures when needed;
- Support the exploitation of project results in coordination with internal teams (IP, commercial, or product development).
Required Qualifications & Experience
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, ICT or related fields;
- MSc or/and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in scientific or engineering field, preferably in computer science, electrical engineering or ICT;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English language;
- Team collaboration and excellent organisation skills;
- Project management skills and strong attention to details;
- Ability to support financial reports and cost claims;
- Fluency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
- Self-motivated, positive attitude and ability to work with minimal or no supervision;
- Ability to travel frequently abroad;
- Ability to understand, design solutions, contribute to and discuss on ICT and engineering problems;
- Ability to discuss, negotiate and work with international partners.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in managing EU-funded R&D/R&I projects such as H2020, Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Interreg, EDF, Digital Europe or similar;
- Project management professional certification;
- Proven experience in working as technical manager/coordinator or/and project manager/coordinator in EU-funded R&D/R&I projects;
- Experience in R&D-intensive environments (e.g., deep tech, software, manufacturing);
- Experience in SME innovation strategy or technology commercialization.
