We are looking for a full-time Senior Software Developer/Engineer to join and work with K3Y Ltd, a fast-growing SME with presence in Bulgaria and Greece. As a Senior Software Developer/Engineer in our R&D Department in Sofia, Bulgaria or in our Business Development & Innovation Department in Thessaloniki, Greece, your core duties will encompass the creation, implementation, and ongoing support of robust software applications built mostly with Angular and Django frameworks. Working alongside diverse teams, you will help establish technical specifications, deliver scalable and performant code, and guarantee application stability and efficiency. Your role demands autonomous operation with excellent judgment capabilities and the ability to recommend sound technical approaches. Beyond individual contributions, you will guide less experienced team members, take part in system architecture planning, perform code assessments, and high-quality, superior development and quality assurance standards across all project initiatives. Your involvement will extend to nationally and EU-supported programmes, where you will oversee both technical and non-technical deliverables and project components.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with product managers and relevant stakeholders to collect requirements, convert them into technical specifications, and provide solutions that fulfill organizational objectives.
- Perform code assessments, offer constructive guidance, and coach junior developers to promote team development and uphold code quality standards.
- Create, implement, and support dependable web applications utilising Angular for frontend development and Django for backend architecture, guaranteeing optimal performance and scalability.
- Enhance applications for velocity, scalability, and dependability, encompassing troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges throughout the entire technology stack.
- Produce clear, sustainable, and thoroughly documented code combined with architectural planning while following established coding standards and industry best practices.
- Engage in nationally and EU-supported projects through coordination and collaboration with the Research & Development (R&D) team.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in EU-funded R&D projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English language.
- Fundamental knowledge of Linux and experience with Docker for containerization.
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development.
- Ability to understand, design solutions, contribute to and discuss on ICT and engineering problems.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Capacity to operate autonomously and recommend viable engineering solutions.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- PhD degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in R&D-intensive environments (e.g., deep tech, software, manufacturing).
- Excellent background on Angular, Python, Django and Celery.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization, or cloud platforms.
