CASTOR 3rd Plenary Meeting

Απρίλιος 27, 2026

We are pleased to announce that K3Y Ltd successfully participated in the 3rd Plenary Meeting of the CASTOR project, which took place in the sunny city of Athens, Greece, on 17-18 March 2026. The meeting was hosted by Feron Technologies PC and brought together all project partners at a key milestone, marking Month 18 (M18) of the project and the preparation phase for the upcoming Mid-Term Review.

The CASTOR project focuses on improving secure and trustworthy communication across the evolving compute continuum, where computing is moving from the cloud closer to the edge and far-edge. The project develops solutions for verifying infrastructure reliability, selecting communication paths based on trust, and enabling secure connections across different domains. These technologies are being tested in four use cases involving security-critical information.

The plenary meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to review progress achieved during the first half of the project and to align on the next steps toward full system integration and validation. Discussions focused on the overall technical status, ongoing implementation activities, and the coordination of integration efforts across the CASTOR framework.

During the first day, partners presented updates on key technical components and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as trust assessment, attestation mechanisms, risk evaluation, network optimization, and orchestration. Particular emphasis was placed on integration activities and early demonstrations, highlighting the progress made toward a cohesive and fully functional system.

The second day shifted focus toward use case development and validation, with dedicated sessions on deployment planning, demonstration scenarios, and evaluation strategies across the project’s application domains. In parallel, discussions also addressed dissemination, standardization, and exploitation activities, as well as the overall coordination and preparation for the upcoming project review.

Overall, the meeting reinforced collaboration among partners and ensured alignment on technical, operational, and strategic priorities as the project moves into its next phase.

K3Y Ltd was represented by our colleagues Ioannis Boukas and Christos Dalamagkas, who presented the progress of implementing the K3Y's pilot use case that is about applying trusted path routing within 5G and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for future-proofing UAV inspections on critical infrastructure. A demo video was presented that showcased a fully simulated UAV operation, obtaining useful network performance metrics during the operation. The session gave insights on how the CASTOR solution will integrate with the simulated testbed in order to achieve the pilot use case objectives.

Stay tuned for further updates as we continue driving innovation toward trustworthy communication across the compute continuum.
