Newsletter of the EU Publications Office: March 2026 – Spotlight on the Cybersphere
The European Union continues to advance its vision for a secure and resilient digital future, as highlighted in its latest “Cybersphere” spotlight publication. In an increasingly digitised environment — where 94% of EU citizens were active internet users in late 2025 — strengthening cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and technological sovereignty has become a key priority.
Within the framework of the Digital Decade programme, the EU focuses on:
- Enhancing digital skills and infrastructure
- Supporting business digital transformation
- Expanding accessible digital public services
The publication also presents a set of reports and studies addressing key aspects of the evolving digital ecosystem.
In the area of cybersecurity, ENISA introduces a structured methodology for designing and evaluating cybersecurity exercises, supporting organisations in strengthening their preparedness and response capabilities. At the same time, the growing adoption of generative AI in the public sector brings forward challenges related to transparency, data protection, and human oversight, alongside emerging policy and governance frameworks.
From a strategic perspective, a European Parliament study highlights Europe’s dependence on non-EU software and cyber technologies, underlining the importance of strengthening technological autonomy and resilience. In parallel, the EU continues to invest in its AI innovation ecosystem, with Digital Innovation Hubs playing a key role in supporting organisations in their digital and AI transformation journeys.
These initiatives collectively contribute to building a competitive, secure, and future-proof digital ecosystem in Europe.
As an SME actively involved in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects, K3Y Ltd closely follows EU policy developments and contributes to advancing cybersecurity solutions, particularly in telecom and industrial environments.
