Q-VERSE Kick-off Meeting
K3Y Ltd proudly participated in the kick-off meeting of the Horizon Europe Q-VERSE project, held in Berlin, Germany, on 14-15 September 2026. Coordinated by Fraunhofer FOKUS, the project brings together 13 partners to develop an open-source quantum software stack that can work across different hardware platforms.
During the two-day meeting, partners introduced their organisations and planned contributions, and discussed the project’s objectives, technical requirements, system architecture and innovation strategy. The agenda also covered dissemination and exploitation activities, ethics, project management, risk management, quality assurance and data management. Partners reviewed the implementation timeline and discussed the next steps for the first phase of the project.

Q-VERSE will build on Eclipse Qrisp to help developers create quantum applications that can run on different quantum computing platforms. The project will address quantum machine learning and quantum optimisation, supported by tools for software validation and simulation under realistic noise conditions. Through this work, Q-VERSE aims to make quantum software development more reliable and reduce dependence on specific hardware providers.

Represented by our colleague Zacharenia Lekka, K3Y Ltd presented its profile and role in the Q-VERSE project, including the objectives, planned activities and next steps of Task 2.3, “Interface Specifications and FAIR Data Framework”, which it leads. Through this task, K3Y will lead the definition of API specifications and data governance frameworks to support interoperability, secure data exchange and European data sovereignty. The work will also establish guidelines for making quantum datasets findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR), and define Python and C++ SDK binding specifications to support integration with Eclipse Qrisp.
We’re looking forward to contributing to Q-VERSE and supporting the development of open and reliable quantum software.

Stay tuned for news and updates as the Q-VERSE project progresses.
